Phase 4: Active Lanka – An Entry Point to Wellbeing

Overview

With the lessons learnt at grass roots we have identified initiating an active lifestyle and exercise (aerobic programs) was very useful in engaging communities and enter them into the health promotion process to change their lifestyle. As such, it is believed to be one of the easiest ways to change other risk factors of NCDs.

  • Active Lanka is the upcoming 2025 initiative expanding the success of Nirogi Diviya.
  • In partnership with the Ministry of Health – Directorate of NCDs and the World Health
    Organisation, Active Lanka will:
  • Launch a national social media campaign promoting physical activity
  • Build an online learning platform for public engagement
  • Establish Active Lanka Clubs across 5 districts
  • Monitor and evaluate progress using the NIROGI App
  • Propose a national model for physical activity promotion

Activities

Asian University Alliance (AUA) Youth Forum

ACTIVE Lanka from NIROGI Lanka collaborated with Youth Forum of the Asian University Alliance (AUA) in 2019 (https://auayf.cmb.ac.lk/) is a project-based program for represented by a group of selected students from AUA member universities to address developmental issues in the region, enhance youth empowerment, and promote cultural and academic exchange. This included health and physical activity promotion of 50 students from high ranked 15 Asian Universities 300 students from University of Colombo.
